Max Associates supports Councils to secure new contracts
Residents of three Councils will see upgraded sports and leisure facilities starting this spring, thanks to new contracts for managing the Council’s leisure centres that includes enhanced spaces and activities. Max Associates were delighted to help the Council’s to secure these new contracts, with residents already seeing the benefits.
Freedom Leisure has secured a 10.5-year contract to manage Tenterden Leisure Centre following a successful procurement process. Their proposal aligned with the Council’s goals of boosting community engagement and participation in leisure activities, while offering strong quality and commercial value. The Council and Freedom’s investment of £2.6 million (£2.1m from the Council and £500,000 from Freedom Leisure) will fund major upgrades, including modernised facilities and a new soft play area. The company will also implement a tailored community development plan focused on youth, mental health, and adult obesity, alongside vocational training and a dedicated Healthy Communities Manager. Operating under an Agency Model, the contract ensures better financial outcomes and long-term sustainability for the centre.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead has awarded a 15-year contract to Leisure Focus Trust to manage six local leisure centres, following a competitive tender and the launch of a new Sport and Leisure Strategy. Starting in April, upgrades will include gym rebranding, new sports facilities, extended hours, and added features like soft play areas and Padel courts. As a charity, Leisure Focus reinvests surplus funds into the facilities. The Trust will also partner with others to promote health and wellbeing, aiming to increase participation and support active lifestyles, including discounted memberships for under-represented groups.
Everyone Active has secured a new five-year contract with Sevenoaks District Council to manage Edenbridge Leisure Centre, Sevenoaks Leisure Centre, and Lullingstone Park Golf Course. Starting 1 May 2024, the £518,000 investment will fund major upgrades, including new fitness equipment, a group cycling studio, and a Grab & Go food area at Edenbridge. Sevenoaks Leisure Centre will gain advanced gym equipment and a new soft play zone, enhancing facilities for both individuals and families across the district.
