Clients & Testimonials

With the support, help and advice of Mark Steward, the outcome of the procurement process not only met the objectives but far exceeded them. I cannot over emphasise the difference Mark made to the eventual outcome. Having project managed a number of leisure management projects I have to say this one has been the pinnacle in my 35 year local government career and that is firmly due to Max Associates involvement. Described as a “game changer” for the council by the Financial Director in cabinet, the contract also exceeds the qualitative requirements set out in the specification.” Martin Holland – West Oxfordshire District Council

Michael Ryan, Corporate Director of People and Places and Monitoring Officer, Wyre Council

“Max Associates were commissioned by Wyre Borough Council to undertake a two stage review of leisure across the borough. The first part of the process was a comprehensive review of each leisure centre to provide a benchmark of current performance. The second stage involved the provision of an evidence base to shape leisure and sports provision to meet the future needs of the population and in line with the long term timeframe for the developing Local Plan.

The business plans were detailed but clear and concept drawings for each scheme concise. This information helped give Members confidence in the projects deliverability and affordability.

I have been particularly impressed with the professional and diligent approach taken by both Mark and Lisa, the consultants assigned to this project. They were flexible in their approach, understood the political context and worked with both the Cabinet and the Council’s Management Team to ensure that the final report met the Council’s requirements. I will shortly be commissioning Max Associates for the next stage of the project which will be to advise with the Design and Build of the proposed facilities mix in each leisure centre.

Cllr Adrian Lee – Lead Member from London Borough of Hounslow acknowledges work of Max Associates

“I have been a Councillor since 1998 and was Lead Member for Leisure on the London Borough of Hounslow between 2006 and 2009. Mark came to us to handle our leisure tender process and to ensure the safe running down of the original contract. I can only say that we could not have got through the minefield without Mark and his highly professional colleagues (such as Lisa Forsyth). Mark is a pleasure to work with. Not only is he dedicated, hard-working and able to solve even the trickiest problems under the greatest stress, he also has a superb sense of humour. I cannot praise Mark and MAX Associates high enough. Everyone who had worked with him at Hounslow was genuinely sorry to see Mark leave, after his job was completed. I have never said this before, but Mark and his team were the most professional people that I have worked with in my local government career.”

“Max Associates were commissioned to assist us in procuring a new leisure centre contract, which was completed in October of this year. Lisa was assigned to the project so I have known her for about a year. As a starting point, Lisa’s work was extremely affordable; Lisa always goes the extra mile, giving far more of her time than she should and as a result, was excellent value for money. She is approachable, hugely intelligent and knowledgeable.

Max Associates gave us excellent advice and guidance with the procurement of a new operator for the Leisure Centre operation in Enfield. They helped guide and inform the internal working group that managed this project. They worked with our finance, procurement and legal teams and were also an important link with the external legal team guiding their understanding of the Councils aims. They understood our needs and requirements and were sensitive to both the history of our situation and the requirements of our residents and Councillors.

MAX Associates originally undertook the preliminary study for the Council to assess the alternative options available for the future of the sports facilities within the Leisure Service. They were constructive, helpful, knowledgeable, organised and timely with all aspects of this project. They provided a detailed report within the agreed fee proposal which they presented initially to officers for comment and then subsequently presented to Councillors. Their communication was excellent and their report provided the basis for the future strategy of the Leisure Service.
